Wisconsin Dam Safety Awareness Day

Governor Evers has declared May 7, 2022 as Dam Safety Awareness Day in the state of Wisconsin!  The purpose of the proclamation is to raise awareness of safety measures that should be taken around dams.  MHUG encourages all individuals to practice dam safety by obeying warning signs and staying away from restricted areas, respecting safety barriers, heeding horns or sirens, being alert to rapidly changing water conditions, practicing safe boating and canoeing, wearing a personal flotation device, and exercising caution when swimming, wading, and walking near a dam.

Be aware of your surroundings, stay away from restricted areas, and learn about the dangers associated with dams.  Please pass this information along and Stay Safe when enjoying rivers and waterways!
